R&D is research and developers are primarily responsible for development. R&D is going to develop new algorithms or create techniques that can solve problems that are currently not solved. R&D is purely focused on POC(Proof of concept) itself. Development means implementing the identified algorithm after POC. IT companies usually do not distinguish between these two roles. Because these two roles are duplicated. Also from another point of view, research is not an immediate gain, and development is an immediate gain. Research is the concept of investing in the future. The research is not done by the developer, and the developer makes the product. However, in a typical company, developers do two things simultaneously. But the two are clearly different. A few months ago, YouTube succeeded in reducing the time difference between real-time high-definition streaming to two seconds. This will be a successful case of R&D.
